Fort Madison Iowa Photographer: I’m still kickin!

Oh blog, how I neglect you. Sorry, but I have e-mails to answer phone calls to make, errands to run and pictures to edit. I promise I am coming back to you very soon.

So, where the heck have I been? Shooting tons! Here are just a few-I have TONS of seniors to blog and it’s goin’ down this week! Yaaay! And you know what else is coming up? RODEO!!! YEEEHAW. Fort Madison isn’t a very big town, but we have a huge pro rodeo every year that brings in tons of people and it is always a blast. I have been working with The Funky Cowgirl to create some awesome stuff for print ads and booth display and it is going to be awesome. I will be there on the 9th to see Jamey Johnson (hubby doesn’t know this yet, but he loves Jamey, so we’re going!) I will definitely be sharing some photos of the booth in all of it’s funky goodness.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to readers of The Burlington Hawkeye for voting me #1 Reader’s Choice for photographer in Ft. Madison, Iowa. Very exciting! I didn’t even know the contest was going on and I got a text today from my mom congratulating me. I love capturing all of your memories, so It really means a lot to me.

Sorry for the overexcited blog post. I have been sick for way too long and I’m pretty sure I’m on waaaaaaaaaay too many meds. LOL. Off to bed. I can’t have a blog post without a photo, so I leave you with this. Yep, I looooove my job! Have a great week everyone!

Fort Madison Iowa Photographer: The Funky Cowgirl!

A couple weeks ago I met up with Darla, who is the owner of Studio 61 and The Funky Cowgirl in downtown Ft. Madison. The Funky Cowgirl is an awesome little store that carries all kinds of cool, hip clothing and accessories. They also travel around to rodeos and sell their funky stuff. We had an awesome photo shoot with herself, some beaaaautiful horses and a couple of Mallorys. We shot all the way up until sundown and got some great stuff of the clothes and the horses. I can’t wait to do it again.

A Weekend in My World!!

Late posting this, but last weekend was great! It was my last “free” weekend before wedding and senior season is in full swing. I am very excited about all of my Nauvoo weddings and second shooting with Wendi and my rockin’ senior models. There will definitely be lots of blogging going on!

Anyway, back to the weekend! We had family in town from all over and my grandma hosted a little get together at her house on Saturday. I ended up spending the majority of my evening rolling around on the ground taking pictures of my little cousins. I wonder what all of the adults thought…lol. Oh well, I must say we had fun! Here is a little sampling of our silliness.

It was fun to just be silly and get some fun pictures.
And the main reason I had my camera there. My grandpa had all of his siblings in town and my grandma wanted to make sure I could take a picture of them. I’m pretty sure she reminded me to bring my camera at least 10 times, LOL. Well I brought it and here they are!

Powerful Words

Yesterday was my Jesse and I’s second wedding anniversary. It is so amazing to me how fast time flies. His boss was nice enough to give him a little extra money on his paycheck for us to go out and do something. (Thanks Allen!) We decided to opt out of an expensive meal at one of my favorite restaurants and were going to cook at home. At the last minute we decided to just go out to eat somewhere else. We went to one of our new favorite restaurants in Burlington, RonDavoo. It is just a simple pizza & chicken buffet, It is soooo good and the service is great. Anyway, we thought about going to see Up in the theater, but didn’t want to hang around for 2 hours waiting for it to start, so we bought The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and watched it at home. Very odd movie, but great and meaningful at the same time. Anyway, there was a quote towards the end of the movie that was just so awesome that I had to look it up. I feel like it really applies to my life and the things I am working towards right now.

And here it is:

For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.

I just love it.
