Fort Madison Iowa Photographer: I’m still kickin!

Oh blog, how I neglect you. Sorry, but I have e-mails to answer phone calls to make, errands to run and pictures to edit. I promise I am coming back to you very soon.

So, where the heck have I been? Shooting tons! Here are just a few-I have TONS of seniors to blog and it’s goin’ down this week! Yaaay! And you know what else is coming up? RODEO!!! YEEEHAW. Fort Madison isn’t a very big town, but we have a huge pro rodeo every year that brings in tons of people and it is always a blast. I have been working with The Funky Cowgirl to create some awesome stuff for print ads and booth display and it is going to be awesome. I will be there on the 9th to see Jamey Johnson (hubby doesn’t know this yet, but he loves Jamey, so we’re going!) I will definitely be sharing some photos of the booth in all of it’s funky goodness.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to readers of The Burlington Hawkeye for voting me #1 Reader’s Choice for photographer in Ft. Madison, Iowa. Very exciting! I didn’t even know the contest was going on and I got a text today from my mom congratulating me. I love capturing all of your memories, so It really means a lot to me.

Sorry for the overexcited blog post. I have been sick for way too long and I’m pretty sure I’m on waaaaaaaaaay too many meds. LOL. Off to bed. I can’t have a blog post without a photo, so I leave you with this. Yep, I looooove my job! Have a great week everyone!

Nauvoo Illinois Wedding Photographer: Michael & Heather

What an awesome couple! I know I say that a lot, but I guess it happens a lot. Heather and Michael were referred to me by their friends Marissa and Todd (Click for their wedding blog post!). The couple was sealed in the Nauvoo Temple with a ring ceremony following at David’s Chamber just outside of town. Heather knew pictures were very important to her, so we traveled around Nauvoo and scouted out some unique locations for photos of her with her new hubby. They were not afraid to get wet and have a little fun even though they had a reception to wear their clothes at the next day and I absolutely loved it! After the wedding we had dinner at Hotel Nauvoo…yum! When we stepped out to take a few pictures after dinner we found a gentleman giving free horse carriage rides, so we hopped on and headed out. I love this shot I captured of them in the carriage with the temple behind and the beautiful light pouring in from behind. Definitely one of my faves from the day! It was such a perfect ending to such a perfect day. Congraulations, guys!

Malinda and I have been friends since elementary school, so we go way back! In high school, she met Tyson and the rest is history. They are really good friends of mine and a gorgeous couple. I also had the honor of being a bridesmaid in their wedding 2 years ago in November. Their wedding photos were very traditional and they wanted something different to hang up in their new house that they just bought in Quincy, so Malinda drug her dress out of storage and we had a wedding re-shoot.

Why this is awesome:

Your dress is already dirty, so you can do all kinds of crazy stuff. There is absolutely no time pressure from friends and family, no cake disasters, nothing to worry about. Just you and your new husband-very relaxed. Since this is all about you, maybe we can head out to a location that is special to you that you didn’t have time to go to on your wedding day-perhaps your farm, a park, baseball diamond, bike trail. A place that says something about you. I’m thinking every couple should have a day after, week after, year after session, whatever. Here is just a little peek of them! I will post more soon, but I have some weddings to edit right now!

Another Nauvoo Wedding: Michael & April

This couple was so so sweet. I could tell how excited Michael was about their day the first time he called and we talked about their wedding plans for forever. He is head over heels for April and it’s totally obvious just in the way that he looks at her. Working with couples like this is just so refreshing! It was a gorgeous (albeit hot) day for their temple wedding. I photographed them and their families around the temple grounds and we had so much fun. Congratulations, Michael & April!

Nauvoo Illinois Wedding Photography: Marissa & Todd

Many couples travel to Nauvoo to be married in the temple and I am always so honored to be a part of their wedding day. It is such a picturesque town, so I am always excited to shoot there!

I know you are anxiously awaiting your pictures, Marissa, so here is a sneak peek for you!

Wow, what can I even say about Marissa and Todd’s wedding day?! Marissa has wonderful taste and every last detail was amazing. I got to meet with the couple a few weeks before the wedding and we drove around planning some unique shots of them together. We found this awesome little patch of field with the temple in perfect view from behind and I love it! I think she looks so much like a vintage beauty in her dress-the lace was just perfect.

They were sealed in the Nauvoo temple, then had an afternoon luncheon with close family and friends on the lawn of The Ellis Sanders House Bed & Breakfast which was absolutely gorgeous! I had an awesome time with you guys and I am so happy you braved the heat to get these beautiful images. Hope you had a great time in Puerto Rico!

I Heart Faces-Wedding Photo Challenge

I love networking with other photographers online and recently came across I Heart Faces. They have a weekly photo contest and it looks like a lot of fun, so I’m going to jump in! This week’s theme is “Wedding Bells.”

I chose this picture from my wedding on Friday for my entry. I had so so much fun with this couple and yes, they really were this happy! You can tell that they love each other SO much and I just think it shines through in this photo. Look for more of their wedding and a few others soon! I have had some great weddings in Nauvoo lately.
