  • About Devan

"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."
    — Marilyn Monroe

That's me-all summed up in one handy little quote. I love to have fun, love to make friends, am creative, patient and random.

I am a professional wedding and portrait photographer located in Dallas City, Illinois and serving all surrounding areas including Nauvoo and Carthage, Illinois and Burlington, Keokuk and Fort Madison, Iowa.

It is amazing to be able to have a "job" that you love to do so much. There is no other profession that allows a person to capture the memories and special moments that I do for customers every day. It is my goal to help my clients have fun, look great, and create beautiful, unique images that capture who they really are.

Thanks so much for taking the time to check out the blog. Here you can find the most up to date information on specials, what I'm up to and view sneak peeks of my newest sessions.

Illinois Senior Photographer: Kaitlyn, 2010 Senior Model

And last but definitely not least of my 2010 senior models! Kaitlyn is a 2010 senior from Central Lee High School and I did her entire session on location right here in the big metropolis of Dallas City. The more I explore around this tiny town, the more awesome, unique locations I find! Kaitlyn had awesome clothes and was seriously a natural model. I still can’t get over how beautiful she looks in all of her pictures. Make sure you check out the video so you can see all of her sneak peek!

Fort Madison Senior Portraits: Stephanie, 2010 Senior

While working on my mound of blogs that I need to finish. I just noticed that is also Stephanie’s birthday today! What are the odds of that?! SO happy birthday, Stephanie! You may remember her from this post as one of my senior models. We had a great time at her session down by the river on a dock that quite frankly scared me and I’m not sure why! She laughed at me because I thought I was going to fall in…and I’m pretty sure I would have been fine even if that did happen.

A storm rolled in towards the end and I sacrificed my reflector to the river (it has since been replaced!), but I got some really awesome shots with the stormy sky and some windblown hair shots. Thanks so much, Stephanie!

Fort Madison Iowa Photographer: Jerrad, 2010 Senior

Senior season is now in full swing! Seniors are my absolute favorite thing to shoot, so I am very happy to be shooting them almost everyday! If you are looking to book your 2010 senior session before school starts, I only have 4 dates left before you’re back in the classroom, so call TODAY to make sure that you get the spot you want. Don’t forget that all sessions that are booked before the end of July receive 50% of their session fee back in print credit. Just a few more days left!

Jerrad and I met up downtown in Ft. Madison and wandered all around for his senior session. We had so much fun finding random locations and exploring the the lesser traveled areas in town, LOL. Jerrad is really a great kid and a great model too. He could go from smiling to serious in no time and we had a few laughs over it. I also had to let him know that I was at his baby shower (our grandpas are brothers!) Ok, I’ll stop now, haha.

Today just so happens to be Jerrad’s birthday as well, so I thought it would be a perfect time to put up his blog post and wish him a happy birthday and a great senior year!

Illinois Baby Photographer: Wally and some news!

Meet Wally! He is one of our new nephews. In the midst of my crazy week last week I finally got to meet him. Jesse’s brother and his wife drove all the way down from New Jersey just to share him with the family. I think they are crazy people for making such a drive, but they did it well. I wish they could have stayed longer and that I was so crazy busy this week, but I was so happy to see them.

Just one for now, I have lots of sessions before I can get to him!

I also wanted to announce that I will have a booth at Dallas City’s 150th Celebration where I will be launching my 2009 Baby & Child Contest, Digital Packages and giving away some really cool stuff. I will be there all day on Saturday, so stop by!

Illinois Child Photographer: Noah & Lillian

On father’s day we had a little cookout with some friends and family…well it turned into a cook IN since everyone wanted to stay in the air conditioning, but anyway! Noah & Lillian came to visit with our friend’s Jeff & Kathleen. I couldn’t believe how big they had gotten since the last time I had seen them. I told Kathleen to pack some clothes for pictures-no one is safe with me around! We didn’t shoot for too long, but I love the shots that we got. We took all of these in the road across from my house. I love living out in the country! Here are a few keepers.:)I have lots more, but I think I want to save them for my website.
